Gibraltar’s new high-reach fire appliance has reached a key stage in its construction.
A delegation from the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service has travelled to Finland to inspect and sign off part of the new Aerial Ladder Platform.
The new appliance is being built to give firefighters greater reach and flexibility when responding to emergencies across Gibraltar.
Members of the Fire and Rescue Service visited the Bronto Skylift factory in Finland, where they inspected and tested the vehicle’s extendable boom, water-delivery systems and elevated working platform.
The appliance will be used for firefighting, rescues and evacuations, particularly in difficult-to-reach locations.
It will now be shipped to Leeds for the final stages of production.
The Government says the investment will strengthen Gibraltar’s emergency response capability for years to come - describing it as a 'significant milestone' for the Fire Service.
