Flag flying over Capitol Building in North Carolina handed to Gibraltar to pass onto new King and Queen

The Governor of North Carolina has gifted the flag that flew over the Capitol building to mark the coronation, to the new King and Queen.

It was presented by the Secretary of State, Elaine Marshall to a delegation from Gibraltar, for it to pass it on to the Governor, Sir David Steel.

During a visit to Raleigh, the Rock's only Sister City, the Gibraltar Government's Representative in the US, David Liston, delivered letters from the Governor and the Chief Minister.

The Director of the Garrison Library Jennifer Ballantine Perera presented the Secretary of State with a coin commemorating Operation Torch, marking the link between Gibraltar and President Eisenhower.   It was in fact President Eisenhower who started the Sister Cities programme.

She also presented Ms Marshall with a book on culture and literature in Gibraltar, which she'd co-edited.
