The GHA's annual seasonal flu vaccination campaign will begin on Monday, but due to a shortage of supplies from the UK, it will be offered in two phases.

The Authority will use its existing supply for the time being until the vaccines on order have been received by the end of November.

Those most at risk of complications will be prioritised in this year's seasonal flu vaccination campaign.

Phase 1

Phase 1 will begin on Monday between 9am and 3pm, for all those 60 and over. Appointments can be booked by calling the vaccination service on 200 66966.

Phase 1 is also for anyone, of any age, who is severely immunocompromised. The GHA will contact these patients directly. Those who believe they fall under this category, and are not contacted, should call the vaccination service between 9am and 3pm.

ERS and long-stay hospital patients will also be prioritised.

Phase 1 is scheduled to run for approximately six weeks.

GHA Mobile Health Unit

The mobile health unit will be available from Tuesday to Thursday between 9am and 1pm at the following locations:-

- 6th, 7th, 8th October - Outside No.6 Convent place

- 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, 22nd October - Casemates Square

Phase 2 (start date to be confirmed).

On arrival of the additional vaccines the following groups will be eligible: - People 50 and over, those with chronic long-term conditions, those who have significant contact with someone with a long-term health condition, pregnant women, health and social care workers and people living in long-stay residential services.

Those eligible for Phase 2 vaccines can book an appointment with the GHA or attend the Mobile Health Unit.

Children's Flu Vaccination Programme

The children's school-based programme is unaffected by the delays and will proceed as planned. Parents will be informed of this through the usual channels.

Anyone unable to receive their vaccination on the day of the school programme can contact 200 03351.
