Published by GBC News

A former commander of a Gibraltar Squadron patrol boat will become the new Commander British Forces Gibraltar in a ceremony on Tuesday. Commodore Tim Henry will succeed Commodore Mike Walliker, with a ceremonial gun salute to be held at the Naval base for the formal change of command.

As a lieutenant, Commodore Henry commanded the Gibraltar Squadron boat HMS Trumpeter. He went on to command the Royal Navy Training Team in Iraq as a lieutenant commander; the frigate HMS Portland as a Commander, and the Navy flagship HMS Ocean, as a Captain. Commodore Henry has also held posts with responsibility for UK and NATO operations; most recently, he was the Assistant Head of UK Counter-terrorism, Resilience and Operations for the Ministry of Defence.
