Founder member of the Self-Determination for Gibraltar Group, and local businessman, William Serfaty, has died at the age of 74.
A one-minute silence was held in his honour on May Day; Unite expressed gratitude for his contribution to its projects on the history of trade unionism.
William Serfaty was Chairman of the SDGG for nine years, and remained an active member and staunch supporter afterwards. During his time as Chairman, he addressed the Committee of 24 at the United Nations, and the packed National Day Rally in 2000.
The SDGG told GBC this was a sad loss, adding Mr Serfaty will be greatly missed and leaves big shoes to fill. He is survived by his daughter Lisa and son Sasha. The SDGG expresses its condolences, as do we at GBC.
