A French national who attempted to perpetrate a 'black-money' scam has been sentenced to four months in prison, at the Magistrates' Court.
Jean Duplex Nounkeu was arrested by the Royal Gibraltar Police after he was caught with numerous blank sheets of paper cut to the size of 100 euro notes, for use in the so called "black money scam" to create fraudulent bank notes.
The scam requires real currency notes to paint on: their chemicals are then transferred onto 100 euro sized papers.
The 45 year-old had been asking a woman for 100,000 euros in cash, telling her that with this, he could produce a large quantity of notes and return a share of the profit.
Nounkeu pleaded guilty to charges of fraud by false representation and posession of articles for use in fraud, back in April.
