Gibraltar was gridlocked on Tuesday afternoon as frontier queues built up all the way back to Devil’s Tower Road and Winston Churchill avenue.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the Spanish authorities slowing down frontier traffic by checking every individual car boot during peak time.
Pedestrian queues were also abnormally long with Spanish police checking travel documents meticulously.
Police introduced traffic diversions and the now well-rehearsed frontier holding area at the Coach park.
