Transport inspectors stationed at the frontier will have the authority to prevent Spanish taxis from entering Gibraltar.
They will have powers to issue fines, and will work with other law enforcement agencies to impound or remove vehicles from Gibraltar.
The announcement follows an incident yesterday, where a Spanish taxi was reported by the RGP for operating on the Rock without a licence.
The Transport Ministry asks the public to report any Spanish private hire vehicles entering Gibraltar to law enforcement agencies, with the Government saying contact is being made with neighbouring jurisdictions to remind them that the rules for cross-border transport have not changed.
