Gache celebrates 194 years on the Rock

La hora Gache is a household phrase with the family firm having been around for almost two centuries.

A pre party was arranged so all staff past and present could meet up to celebrate the longevity.

Originally an opticians, jewelers and watch makers, slowly the watchmakers and jewelers closed but the opticians remained opened.

Historian Richard Garcia is writing a book about the history of the Gaché family and spoke to staff about memories as well as listening to stories of the shop.

There were plans for a big party for 190 years but Covid stopped that in 2020. Now, ahead of 195 years, Eileen Bassadone arranged a pre party so all the staff past and present could meet up.
