The Gibraltar Financial Intelligence Unit says 2025 was a landmark year, with more than 5,800 Suspicious Activity Reports received - a 17.5% increase on the year before.

The figures are contained in the GFIU’s newly-published Annual Report. Carl Ramagge recently took over as Director following the retirement of Edgar Lopez earlier this year.

He says 2025 was an extremely busy year for what remains a relatively small team.

In his first GBC interview since becoming Director, Mr Ramagge spoke to Katy Docker about the findings and the latest trends emerging from the GFIU’s more recent 2026 quarterly data.
