The Health Authority has announced it is to begin a programme of random testing for COVID-19, to assess the prevalence of the virus in the population. The process is set to begin in the coming days.
The Director of Public Health, Dr Sohail Bhatti, told GBC that 400 people will be phoned in order to answer a number of health-related questions and be tested, with their names taken from the electoral register in order to provide a cross-section of society.
The Government says it is extremely important for people to cooperate fully, as the information gathered will be crucial for the GHA to assess the situation and plan further action. The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, asked people to be part of Team Gibraltar, saying "having this data will save lives".
