The Gibraltar Health Authority has celebrated Allied Health Professional Day.
AHPs are a group of professions that are allied to health. These include diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers, dieticians, chiropodists and podiatrists, occupational therapists, paramedics and therapists, among others.
AHPs at the GHA work within specialised units and alongside their medical and nursing colleagues on wards, as well as in the community. They are autonomous practitioners, diagnosing and treating patients within their specialty areas.
Michelle Brown, GHA Head Orthoptist said the day recognises the diversity of the workforce and helps raise awareness of the highly specialised skills required to work as an AHP.
Health Minister Samantha Sacramento said AHPs are an integral part of the GHA.
