A live feed of expected waiting times has been launched by the GHA in order to inform the public of potential waiting times for those without urgent or life-threatening injuries.
The feed is available through the GHA website and it is updated every half hour. Patients are reminded that wait times may always be impacted unexpectedly by the arrival of a patient in serious condition.
The A&E live feed is now online at: www.gha.gi/ae-live-data/
The GHA is taking this opportunity to strongly encourage the public to consider alternative treatment or advice in non-emergency situations, such as calling 111, attending your local pharmacy or seeking an appointment via the Primary Care Centre
This follows the publication of GHA data showing that 47% of attendees to A&E had not required emergency treatment.
Director General, Patrick Geoghegan, said he was pleased this launch allows patients to make an informed decision as to where best to seek treatment.
Patients who have suffered a serious accident or emergency situation are naturally still encouraged to attend A&E.
