Final statistics for 2016 show that Gibraltar Airport registered a total of 548,230 passengers in one year, the most ever recorded. This completes the record for the year. Last month it was confirmed the half-million passenger threshold had been crossed for the first time.

4,968 flights were recorded this year, compared to 4,100 in 2015, an increase of 21.2%.

Aviation Minister Gilbert Licudi said this has been a bumper year, and looked forward to continued growth for the benefit of business and tourism development. Terence Lopez, Air Terminal Director, described December as the perfect ending to a record-breaking year.
