The Gibraltar Alzheimer's & Dementia Society has called for the National Dementia Committee to be established - and to start meeting - without further delay.
The charity’s chairperson Daphne Alcantara said the Government has a very good Dementia Strategy to deal with a growing number of people living with the chronic disorder, which is marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning.
The published Government strategy describes the committee needed to coordinate dementia care, and envisages the creation of a Dementia Liaison Manager. But Ms Alcantara told Viewpoint the good ideas now have to be implemented.
