Gibraltar has been invited to lay a wreath at the UK’s National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall this Sunday, along with other overseas territories and Crown Dependencies.
This represents a change in policy as the Foreign Secretary has laid wreaths on behalf of UK overseas territories in previous years.
Gibraltar’s wreath will be laid by Gibraltar’s Representative to the United Kingdom, Dominique Searle, and will recognize the many lives lost by Gibraltarians in the service of the Crown.
Hundreds of Gibraltarians lost their lives in the two World Wars, along with hundreds more allied forces. It is these lives that will be remembered on Sunday, and again at the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour on the eleventh of November.
