Gibraltar was left in the dark for over an hour at lunchtime.
An interruption to the gas supply from the Shell LNG terminal, led to the shutdown of two of the four engines that were operational at the time.
The other two continued running on back-up fuel. Several areas were left with no power. Fuel starvation to the remaining engines resulted in further interruptions.
The Liquid Natural Gas supply to the power station has now been reinstated.
Shell will be providing the Electricity Authority with a report identifying the cause of the fault and outlining measures to ensure the same fault does not re-occur.
