A Gibraltarian woman has become the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem. Fleur Hassan-Nahoum was appointed after serving as a member of Jerusalem’s City Council.
She is the daughter of the former Chief Minister, Sir Joshua Hassan, and sister to independent MP Marlene Hassan-Nahon. Ms Hassan-Nahoum is a lawyer and former campaign director of the humanitarian agency World Jewish Relief, as well as a member of the Jerusalemite Party.
Ms Hassan-Nahoum has called for more political representation for women in Jerusalem, and upon her appointment as Deputy Mayor, said she would work hard for the good of Jerusalem, describing it as Israel’s “eternal capital”.
