Gibraltar's new Governor, Vice Admiral Sir David Steel, will fly into Gibraltar on Wednesday afternoon. He will be met by the Chief Minister, the Commander British Forces and the interim Governor, Nick Pyle.
The Governor will be sworn in in Parliament at eleven on Thursday morning. Due to the requirements of social distancing, the ceremony will not follow the traditional pattern. There will be fewer guests and no Guards of Honour outside Parliament.
The Convent confirmed last month that Sir David Steel would become the next Governor, after GBC broke the news in November last year.
Sir David enjoyed a 36 year career in the Navy, and was appointed Second Sea Lord, a position he held for three years.
He was most recently CEO of Leeds Castle Foundation and Enterprises Limited, stepping down in order to take up the position of Governor.
