Gibraltar’s 2026 Global Emerging Leaders Programme has begun, with its cohort starting a leadership and development programme in London before travelling to Washington DC.
The initiative, commonly known as the Washington Programme, is organised by the Advanced Leadership Foundation in partnership with the Government.
Participants recently met Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Garcia and Education Minister John Cortes before beginning the programme.
In London, the group attended a session hosted by Baroness Hooper examining the political and institutional systems of the European Union, United Kingdom and United States.
The cohort will now travel to Washington, where participants will meet senior figures from political, governmental, diplomatic, business and civic institutions.
The programme aims to develop leadership skills and provide a greater understanding of international institutions and global issues.
It will conclude in November, when participants will present their final projects before attending a closing ceremony.
