Government bans imported COVID tests

The Government is banning the importation of all COVID tests, except those obtained through the GHA, in order to maintain quality and to stop the entry of tests that would be unreliable.

In a statement, Number 6 said if people are falsely informed that they either have, or don't have COVID-19, or been infected in the past, this might adversely affect their compliance with social distancing measures.

Ultimately, the Government says it could lead to the collapse of the GHA and the unnecessary suffering and deaths of people who would not have died if the Health Authority was still functional.

Number 6 stressed we must reduce the curve and save the GHA, as well as the lives of our friends and relatives.

The Imports and Exports Act 1986 has been amended and published in the Gazette banning the tests, also referred to as SARS-CoV-2, unless approved by the Gibraltar Health Authority.
