Government claims consumption of street lighting reduced by 20% due to use of low energy devices over past 7 years

The Government is claiming the consumption of street lighting has been reduced by 20% due to the use of low energy devices over the past seven years.

The news comes after an increase in street lighting during the festive season, but the Government claims that despite this, there was still a reduction in electricity consumption as the Christmas Lighting used is LED.

Minister for the Environment John Cortes, says the reported figures satisfy the Government's energy efficiency policy. He encourages the public to use low energy devices at home, which would reduce costs and pollution.
