The Government has engaged a UK firm of geotechnical engineers to inspect Powers Drive Tunnel before Technical Services are able to commence works.
This will take place over the coming weeks, after which the main focus will be ensure the safety of the site in order to repair the salt water pipe which feeds into the Reverse Osmosis Plant.
Speaking to GBC, the Chief Executive of Technical Services said the Tunnel is still too dangerous to enter, adding it's too early to say whether it will ever re-open.
Ros Astengo spoke to Emil Hermida and first asked him for an update on the site.
