Government & Opposition clash over ownership of company involved in nursing home joint venture

The Government and Opposition have clashed in Parliament over the ownership of a Gibraltar-based but Chinese-owned company involved, together with a Government-owned company, in the joint venture to build a new nursing home at the Rooke site.

In response to questions from GSD MP Roy Clinton, Minister for Economic Development, Sir Joe Bossano, said there was a relationship, but no formal consultancy agreement, with a linked UK-based company, for backup and advice. Sir Joe said the Gibraltar-based company involved in the joint venture on the Rock is owned by one of many companies belonging to a much larger Chinese group.
