A Government spokesperson has described an article in the Financial Times as inaccurate in every material respect.
The Paper reported a passport rift between the UK and Spain had left Gibraltar in Brexit limbo, saying Spain insists its police force must carry out passport checks at the airport.
It quotes a Spanish official involved in the talks as saying Schengen Controls at the airport have to be carried out by the Policia Nacional.
The FT reports that as an alternative, British diplomats have suggested Spanish border guards could process travellers flying into Gibraltar at the UK airports from which they depart, as the French do in London for Eurostar trains to Paris and Brussels.
The Gibraltar Government spokesperson says the paper’s sources have not got access to the reality of the negotiation.
