GSD accuses Government of breaking election promise over Catalan Bay marina expansion

The GSD insists the Government would be breaking a key electoral promise by allowing the Catalan Bay marina to extend beyond the southern-most point of the existing reclamation, despite it says, clear assurances from the Chief Minister that it would not.

The Shadow Minister for Tourism and the Environment says the Government is no longer saying the development will not cut across the length of the beach and its village but only that that the sea wall “will be replaced by low-level revetments”.

Giovanni Origo says the Government should stop blaming the GSD and take responsibility for the broken promise.

He also questions whether the Government will meet its other pledge to remove rubble within 24 months, with only two months remaining.
