GSD calls for publication of Treaty text in time for Parliament debate

The GSD has called on the Government to release the proposed UK EU Treaty on Gibraltar to the Opposition ahead of its general publication.

Leader of the Opposition Keith Azopardi says the Opposition has not yet seen any part of the Treaty, which he believes could run into a thousand pages.

He argues that, for the planned parliamentary debate on ratification to be meaningful, the Opposition must have adequate time to study the full text.

The GSD says this will be a seminal moment for Gibraltar and that proper scrutiny and full debate are essential, warning against last-minute disclosure that could undermine parliamentary oversight.
