The GSD says the Ombudsman's findings on Disability Benefit confirm the need for urgent reform of the system.

Shadow Minister for Social Security and Disability, Atrish Sanchez, says applicants continue to face lengthy delays, with some applications taking between two and three years, and appeals remaining outstanding for up to three years.

The GSD also highlights a Disability Benefit review discussed in Parliament in 2020, which it says was never subsequently presented.

It has welcomed plans for an external independent review, but is calling for a clear timeframe, publication of findings, and action on any recommendations.
