HM Customs rescued a man from sea Friday afternoon. GBC understands the man was found suffering from hypothermia 200m from the lighthouse. The crew of the gas carrier 'Al Hamla' had raised the alarm.
Customs responded to a call from the Port Authority at around 3pm and were directed by the Port VTS team. Local boats 'Mistress' and 'As Two' also responded.
The man was found wearing a wetsuit; he had some documents inside a water proof bag.
GBC understands the man is an Algerian national and that he was later transferred to St Bernard's Hospital. The Royal Gibraltar Police is investigating.
