HMS Sabre and HMS Scimitar have departed British Gibraltar Territorial Waters for the final time.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the two Scimitar-class vessels had been hoisted onboard MV Anvil Point last week before their journey back to the UK.
The boats had been used by the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron to provide security and demonstrate the sovereignty of BGTW since their arrival in 2003.
They have been temporarily replaced by HMS Dasher and HMS Pursuer for the next 18 months, ahead of the arrival of their long-term replacements.
Squadron Commanding Officer Lloyd Cardy said Sabre and Scimitar had provided an exceptional service over the last 17 years, adding their departure marks the end of an era.
