Homeless people who have been given accommodation in the Garrison Gym during lock down will have the facility available to them until the end of the month. At this point they will need to find somewhere new to stay.
In answer to GBC questions, a Government spokesperson said a maximum of 15 people have been staying in the temporary accommodation each night, with access to a doctor and counsellor provided as well as 24 hour security.
As the lock down legislation has lapsed, those staying at the Garrison Gym will no longer be obliged to do so, however they have until the 31st May to find alternative accommodation.
The Government said that as these individuals are not from Gibraltar they are not entitled to Government housing. It added they have each been offered repatriation to their home countries.
