Apart from money spent on preparing facilities, Island Games expenditure will be around £900,000 net cost, says Linares

Apart from the money spent on preparing facilities, expenditure on the Island Games will be in keeping with the figure on the original bid document, according to the Minister for Sport. In his budget address, Steven Linares said the net cost to the Government would be just under £900,000, less than the £1million originally estimated.

Steven Linares said cultural and sports events organised or supported by the Government had brought tourism to the Rock to the tune of over 15,000  overnight stays.

As Minister for the Media, Steven Linares said construction on GBC's new premises are well underway, with the steel frame virtually completed, and technical fit-out due to start in February.
