A man has been arrested after a postal parcel containing around one kilogram of cannabis resin was intercepted by Customs.

The package was flagged as suspicious by a postal worker, prompting an investigation by Customs’ Investigation Branch.

The suspect was later identified and arrested by Customs officers

The parcel was examined by Customs’ Investigation Branch, who established the identity of the individual suspected of being responsible.

He was arrested last Thursday by officers from the Flexible Anti-Smuggling Team on suspicion of possession, possession with intent to supply and attempted exportation of a Class B controlled drug.

Searches of his home and moped also uncovered a wrapper containing a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug.

He has since been released on bail.
