A 36-year-old man has been handed a 2 year sentence, suspended for 18 months, after he knocked another in the face with a glass.
Luis Cano pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding, following an incident in an Ocean Village bar last January, leaving his victim requiring 30 stitches to his face and unable to work for 10 days.
Puisne Judge Karen Ramagge Prescott told the court Cano had expressed remorse but underlined that he had a glass in his hand when he threw the punch, describing it as a ‘serious’ offence.
She explained her decision to suspend the sentence was because the man was a sole carer for his wife who suffers medical emergencies.
As well as the two-year suspended sentence, the man was ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
