Man sentenced to five years & eight months after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of 13 year old

A man has been sentenced to five years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a thirteen year old girl.

A ten year sexual offences prevention order has also been ordered.

34 year old Efren Rodriguez Martinez faced three counts of sexual activity with a child last year, as well as two charges relating to video recordings of the alleged assault against her.

According to evidence heard in court, the man had been drinking and said he couldn’t remember anything.

Martinez was represented by Francis Borastero-Porter, who said the defendant had felt remorse and sincere regret.

But Judge Karl Tonna said the impact on the victim could not be minimised.
