March for action on climate change to set off from Casemates at 5pm

A march for action on climate change will be taking place this afternoon, starting at Casemates Square at 5 o'clock.  Protesters will make their way to No.6, where they will hand in a petition detailing issues which they feel need to be tackled, urging the government to honour its climate emergency pledge. One of the key issues being called for is an independent climate body to ensure Gibraltar meets its carbon responsibilities.

Today's march takes places under the banner of 'parents for future' - a response to the children's climate march which took place earlier this year - and it is being organized by the Coalition for Climate Action (which consists of GONHS, The Nautilus Project, The Heritage Trust, ESG, Pollution Watch and Sustainable Gibraltar).

It also coincides with a global climate strike, which has already seen millions around the world take to the streets demanding action be taken to combat the damage being done to the planet.
