The UK Prime Minister and Spanish Premier have agreed to maintain a “constructive dialogue” for the benefit of all citizens in the Campo de Gibraltar. This, according to the Twitter account for the Spanish Government, following a half-hour meeting between the two leaders at the NATO summit in Brussels.
According to reports in the Spanish press, Pedro Sanchez focused on the potential effect Brexit could have on the Campo de Gibraltar, and also on more general questions such as its effect on frontiers and the movement of people and goods. Theresa May reportedly called on Mr Sanchez for a “constructive” approach to the Brexit negotiations as regards Gibraltar.
The Gibraltar Government says it was aware the meeting would take place, and welcomes the commitment to dialogue and constructive engagement.
