Theresa May's withdrawal agreement only serves Gibraltar until December 2020, at which point Spain will pursue Gibraltar's sovereignty as a condition for any future relationship agreement. That is the view of former Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham, who has had his own opinion published in The Times' letters page on Thursday.
Mr Feetham, who submitted the article last week before Mr Picardo's was published, says the withdrawal agreement is not in the best interests of either the UK or Gibraltar, and says he is concerned that, given sovereignty discussions will never be acceptable to the people of Gibraltar, the Rock could crash out of the EU without a permanent deal.
He says if the Prime Minister's deal is defeated in Parliament, the people should be given a final say between the only two realistic alternatives, a no-deal Brexit or Remain.
