The Mental Welfare Society has welcomed the Health Minister's announcement that a survey will be available to service users, on mental health provision, these last two months.
The Society says regular feedback from those using mental health services is important.
The Mental Welfare Society says a reliable survey will be able to measure what improvement there might have been since the introduction of the New Mental Health Strategy. The society calls on as many service users as possible to carry out the survey.
It says a strong outreach programme from the Community Mental Health Team will be needed, involving voluntary advocates if necessary.
The Society says service users, in the community and in Ocean Views, should be encouraged to provide honest feedback. And they also need to be supported when necessary to fill in the forms.
If this doesn't happen, it says the survey will not reflect the reality on the ground accurately but will present a skewed view of present services.
