Minister Arias Vasquez says advisory groups and town halls are proof of treaty business engagement

Business Minister Gemma Arias Vasquez framed the treaty as a generational moment for Gibraltar and not a political compromise.

She was clear on what rejection would actually mean, full Schengen border code, biometric checks, and lengthy queues. With eighty-five percent of health and care workers being frontier workers, she said, the stakes could not be higher.

On business concerns, she pushed back against suggestions that government had been absent, pointing to advisory groups, sector-by-sector town hall meetings, and ongoing coordination with customs and relevant departments.

The treaty, she acknowledged, is not perfect but she said it is robust and protects sovereignty.
