Morrisons supermarket has, for the first time, chartered two planes carrying 20 tonnes of Christmas food items to Gibraltar. The chain has experienced obstacles importing these by land because of Brexit and EU rules resulting in a number of empty shelves.
A spokesperson said Morrisons is aware its customers have not been able to enjoy some of their favourite festive party foods in the last couple of years so they arranged “an extra special delivery” with gammon joints, pigs in blankets, pate, cheese boards and a number of desserts.
The supermarket says it will absorb the cost of the delivery entirely, without passing on the cost to shoppers.
