Illicit tobacco activity falling says Collector of Customs as MOU is signed with Japan Tobacco company

Illicit tobacco activity is declining in the region due to measures introduced locally, according to the two signatories of the latest Memorandum of Understanding signed today, between Customs and Japan Tobacco International, one of the world's leading tobacco companies.

The aim is to promote a joint effort against illegal trade with the agreement outlining the basis of a cooperative framework involving sharing of information and best practices, as well as training on counterfeit recognition.

The signing took place at the Wessex Lounge with Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, Collector of Customs John Rodríguez and General Manager of JTI International Iberia Tom Osborne, who said cooperation was 'vital"
