The Musicians Association of Gibraltar has become the first cultural organisation to contribute to the National Theatre fund to the tune of two thousand, two hundred pounds raised through local events.
MAG, which has been formally consulted on the Theatre project, yesterday launched its mission statement for the future, ahead of three nights of live music performances at the Ince's Hall.
Committee spokesperson Jesamine Scruton explained the association is working towards promoting young musicians together with local restaurants, and a number of events are already in the pipeline.
She said the Association was working closely with the Ministry of Culture on changes to the noise pollution legislation which should see responsible and reasonable cooperation between musicians, establishments and their residential neighbours.
For his part, Culture Minister John Cortes thanked MAG for its donation and contribution to local culture, and said he would have some news on premises for the Association soon.
The series of events continues on Friday with a Blues night at the Ince's Hall, followed by a 90's night on Saturday.
