NASUWT teachers' union expects meaningful counter-proposal to its claim to be offered in appointment set for next week

Tthe NASUWT teachers' union has congratulated the Government on the £82.8 million budget surplus.

It's welcomed the abolition of the public sector pay cap and the reimbursement of the losses as well as the Government's commitment to consulting with all unions with the aim of stopping the abuse of zero hour contracts.

The Union thanks the Chief Minister for pointing out that the success could not have happened without the teachers and welcomes the commitment to‘settle all outstanding claims’ and to ‘address the detail of their claim’.

As a responsible union, it says, it will continue to work with Government in the spirit of social partnership and good honest relations, in order to reach a positive and mutually beneficial resolution to its Pay Adjustment Claim, adding it expects a meaningful counter-proposal will be offered in the appointment set for next week.
