National Day Message: Gibraltar’s legal status must reflect decolonisation, says Garcia

Liberal Party Leader Joseph Garcia says Gibraltar has long outgrown its place on the UN’s list of Non-Self-Governing Territories.

He says Gibraltar’s political, social, and economic development clearly points to decolonisation, adding that its international legal status must now evolve in line with modern realities.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that Gibraltar’s right to self-determination remains paramount, and will not be compromised by any UK-EU treaty.

He called National Day a time to reflect on unity and identity.
