No agreement has yet been reached after a six-hour meeting in Brussels today.

In a joint statement, however, all parties have said "it's getting closer".

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, met with European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, UK Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron, and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.

They say there have been important breakthroughs and additional areas of agreement.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to an agreement, and say they will remain in close and constant contact.

Our News Editor, Christine Vasquez, was in Brussels as it unfolded, and gave us this update.

The Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares was the first to address the media after the meeting. He said the work would continue tomorrow.

European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič also gave an address following the meeting.
