Northern Defences clear up leads to discovery of defence wall dating back to 1600's

The Queen's Lines, King's Lines and Place of Arms section of the Northern Defences has been cleared and now reveals around 500 metres of tunnels and terraces, as part of the latest in a series of renovations to the area, which started almost five years ago. This clearing phase has also uncovered a defensive wall spanning over hundreds of metres, that seems to date back to as early as 1627. This according to project director Carl Viagas, who describes it as quite a significant find.
