“Obrigado” is the theme of this year’s Gibraltar World Music Festival. Now in its fifth year, the festival will celebrate the music of Portuguese-speaking countries including Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal itself, with artists including Carmen Souza, Marcio Faraco and Carminho (Carmo Rebelo de Andrade).
The Festival’s programme includes conferences, a street party, and a concert at St. Michael’s Cave. A short documentary is being produced, and workshops for children will also be held.
An innovation this year is the introduction of World Music Festival ambassadors, with Gibraltar Productions looking to recruit volunteers to help backstage or front of house, as well as with hospitality management and VIP care.
The Gibraltar World Music Festival will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of June, and will also feature Spotify as a streaming partner. Tickets, available at 92 Irish Town, include the shuttle service to St Michael’s Cave for the concert on the 23rd. More details are available on the Gibraltar Productions website.
