Ocean Village is supporting the University of Gibraltar’s marine science programmes by providing a free berth for its research vessels.

The berth at Ocean Village Marina has been used by the University since last year as a base for a small tender and now also accommodates its vessel, Captain Graham.

The vessels are used for practical learning and research by students studying Applied Marine Science and Marine Science and Climate Change.

The University says access to local waters allows students to combine classroom learning with practical experience of Gibraltar’s marine environment.

Ocean Village director Ed Allison-Wright says the partnership reflects the company’s interest in the local marine ecosystem.

Ocean Village and the University are also discussing longer-term collaboration on marine conservation, research and community engagement projects.
