One new COVID case confirmed in Gibraltar over weekend

Published by GBC News

One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Gibraltar this weekend, although the total number of confirmed cases has risen by two.

This, according to the Government, is because a positive result from December had been incorrectly entered as "not detected" in the system, with the error rectified after it was picked up through Genome Sequencing work.

The new case detected this weekend is that of a visiting seafarer, who disembarked on the 25th May.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic is 4295. There are currently six active cases on the Rock: five residents and one visitor. There are no cases in the hospital or in Elderly Residential Services.
